Rev. Tim McKoy was born on April 6, 1943 to the late James and Sally Leslie McKoy in Hoke County. He departed this life on Monday, January 1, 2018 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.

He was a member of Freedom Chapel AME Zion Church, under the leadership of Reverend James L. Glenn, where he accepted his calling to the ministry. He was assigned to the St. Pauls A.M.E. Zion Church, McColl, SC and received his Ordinations (Deacon and Elder) by Bishop James Wesley Wactor. Under the leadership of Rev. McKoy, St. Pauls was rebuilt after being destroyed by the horrific storm “Fran”. Rev. McKoy went on to Pastor Hunter’s Chapel and St. James and many renovations were accomplished. He received his last appointment as Pastor of Johnsonville AME Zion Church, where he continued faithfully until his passing. During his 41 years of pastoring, many souls were saved, many were called into the ministry and went on to become pastors, and many lives were changed.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife: Mrs. Marilyn Lemour Murchison McKoy; two sons: Marvin (Tammy) McKoy and Michael (Tricia) McKoy, both of Winston-Salem, NC; one daughter: Kimberly McKoy of Raeford, NC; nine grandchildren: Christopher (Tanisha), Kiana, Leslie, Andre’, Chazmen, Mintrell, Alexis, Tristan, Teagan and five great-grandchildren: Kymani, Kaylee, Jayden, Elijah, and Christian; two brothers: Bishop George McKoy of Aberdeen, NC and Otis McKoy of Baltimore, MD; one sister: Arletha McKoy of Wagram and a host of other relatives and friends.
