Angela Leach DeJohnette, also known as Angel, was born on February 1, 1972, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Matthew Harris Jr. and the late Pecolia Baldwin Leach. She transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on June 28, 2021.
She received her education in Hoke County Public Schools. She graduated from Hoke County High School in 1990. She worked various jobs including waitressing at JJ’s Family Restaurant where she was loved by many.
In 1987, Angel accepted Christ as her personal savior. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the choir. Her favorite song to sing was “I Am Thine” (Draw Me Nearer). She also blessed us with beautiful praise dances. In her free time, she volunteered at her daughter’s school and was an Assistant Coach for her daughter’s cheerleading team at Parks and Recreation.
Angel was preceded in death by her mother, Pecolia Leach. Those left to cherish her memories: her father, Matthew Harris Jr. (Mary), her daughter, LaKyra Danyale Farmer, and her granddaughter, Aamira McGruder. Five siblings, Janice L. Woodson (Jerry), Michael C. Leach (Drucilla), Necole L. Dorsey, Cassandra (Peaches) Singletary (Marion), and Matthew (Danny) Harris, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 1:00 PM.
