Mr. George C. McIntosh, Jr., 63, departed this world on Friday, April 30, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. Even though he suffered through his illness in silence, his loving heart left a beacon of light for family, friends, co-workers, and classmates.
George was a long-time resident of Hartford, CT, he was born on November 5, 1957, in Raeford, North Carolina to the late George C. McIntosh, Sr. and Betty D. McIntosh. George graduated from Weaver High School in 1977. Years later, he began his career with the United States Postal Service and at the time of his passing, his career spanned three decades.
George was preceded in death by his sister, Johnetta McIntosh; brother, Gary Carpenter, and sister-in-law, Penny R. Epps-McIntosh. Left to cherish his memories are his sister, Mrs. Katherine Hill; brothers David S. McIntosh and Jeffrey McIntosh, Sr. (wife Cheryl McIntosh); aunt, Denise Thompson; uncles, George Thompson and Tyrone Thompson; nieces, Melody McIntosh and Danielle McIntosh; nephews, Jeffrey McIntosh, Jr., Darnell McIntosh, and Austin McIntosh; one great grand-niece, three great-grand nephews, one great-great grand-niece, life-long friends Chris Carey and Warren Clayton, and a host of relatives and friends.
George will always live on within our hearts, in his hearty infectious laugh, warm and welcoming spirit. We will never forget his sense of fashion and style, with his great love of hats. All who knew him knew he was a true and faithful fan of the Washington Football Team. But, the most valuable memory is of his presence at every family and friend gathering, whether near or far. George will be missed immensely.
A viewing and Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 2 pm at Howard K. Hill Funeral Home, 94 Granby Street, Bloomfield, CT 06002.
His viewing and service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 9 am, Buie Funeral Home, 543 Vass Rd, Raeford, NC 28376. Following the service at 11, burial and internment will be at Lily Chapel, Maxton, NC 28364.
