James Walter Mack

Mr. James Walter Mack (Fugie), was born at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC, on July 27, 1981 to Michelle Anne Mack and Walter Raleigh McLeod. His spirit transitioned from his earthly vessel on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at HighSmith Rainey Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.

James (Fugie) was raised in the Bowmore Community. He served many years in the United States Navy. In addition, he enjoyed coaching sports with Hoke County Parks and Recreation. James was known for his beautiful smile, making people laugh, and helping others. James never met a stranger. He was really good at all sports. He loved commentating games on the sidelines. He attended Hoke County Schools. Later he attended and graduated from LBJ Job Corp in Franklin, North Carolina. After the military, his places of employment included Butterball, McDonalds, and other places. Most of all “Fugie” loved  his four children, talking with them, and spending time with them.

James was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Mr. William Mack, Sr. and Mrs. Linda Mack; paternal grandparents, Mr. Malachi McLeod and Mrs. Louella McLeod; one brother, Derek Patterson; Maternal uncles and aunt, William Mack, Jr.. Willie McCall, and Patricia McMillian; paternal uncle and aunt, James Leonard McLeod and Flossie Mae McLeod.

James leaves to cherish his memories, his parents: Michelle Mack, Raeford, NC and Walter McLeod (Cherie), Raeford, NC; his four children: one daughter, Jamya Mona’ Mack, Chicago, Illinois; three sons: Javon Malachi Mack, Javen William Mack, and Jaylen Walter Mack (all three live in Atlanta, GA); two sisters: Lanana (Wanda) Mack, Raeford, NC and Markeyia Brice (John), Raeford, NC; five brothers: Rashad Mack, Marcus Freeman (LeAmber),  Kortez McLeod, Shemar McLeod, and John Williams; eight aunts: Priscilla Warren, Debra McLeod, Evelyn McLeod, Evalene Smith, Johnnie McCall, Pansy McCall, Jeannette McCall and Patricia McCall; one uncle: Richard McLeod (Gloria); a grandmother, Barbara Graham; Special Friends: Donta Moore, DeWarren Riggins, Thomas Smith, Kenneth Monroe, Brett Moore, Damion Johnson, Derrick McLaughlin, and Narada Riggins; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  

Funeral services will be held at Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 2 PM>
