Telly was one of my professor's at JCC. It was my first time back in a college classroom in years, he made feel I could accomplish anything! I discovered he didn't care for bull or drama. I have known Telly since ECU 1998. He is one of my husband's greatest friends. I know how very close my husband and Telly were. We are so heartbroken.
Almost 20 years later, Telly has always been and will remain a part of our lives, a part of our family, always and forever in our hearts.
I am proud to call him my friend and I will miss him very much. We have lost one of the kindest and gentlest people I have ever had the privilege to know. My deepest sympathies to his daughter and family. Rest in peace my friend.

Words cannot express the loss of someone so Great. A Great Friend, Great Father, Great Family man, Great Smile, Great Laugh, Great Role Model, Great Mentor, Great Mind, Great Success, Great Person. That is Telly. We met first days 1996 ECU. We later roomed together over summer school at ECU. We even then later got a place together after ECU undergrad. So many fun times, so many road trips, just so many countless memories that I’ll cherish forever and always. Kennedy has such an amazing father that meant the world to so many. My deepest sympathies, condolences, and prayers to Kennedy, the entire family, & friends as we truly lost a great soul called home too early. His memories will live on. Telly was always a joy to be around. He was sort of like my little brother. We attended ECU together, and there was never a dull moment whenever we worked on class projects together. His smile was so infectious. In school (ECU), he would always talked about his mom and how she held a special place in his heart. He just loved his family. Telly was always kind and smiling every time I saw him in the halls at BB&T and I loved to see pictures of his daughter as she grew and when you asked of her his smile was as big as it could get. My favorite picture of her was when she was younger eating a package Oreo cookies in the middle of his bed. Telly was such a humble, caring person. I first met him during my first year at ECU while we were living in the dorm (Jones Hall). He always looked out for me and my roommate and never asked or took anything in return. He just would say "look out for somebody else." We traveled so many miles with him behind the wheel of that white Honda Accord, wrestling in the dorm hallway, and sitting on the yard just talking about life. He was so wise for his age. He was so focused and driven to be a success. Our ECU crew is devastated and this one is a hard pill to swallow. Prayers to his family but take comfort in knowing that he affected so many people in a positive way.

Telly's legacy includes what he gave to the students at Johnston Community college. As an adjunct instructor his knowledge, experience and creativity benefited many a business student. My heart hurts so bad! My prayers are for you, your daughter, your mom and the rest of your family. To Telly's family he spoke about you all so much and the love he had could not be measured. I worked with Telly at BB&T until 2014 and am so sorry to learn of his passing. He was always so much fun to talk to, had the best outlook on everything, and always brought out a smile no matter what was going on. I am blessed to have known him. The family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Heaven has gained an angel. Telly had an angelic spirit with a contagious smile. I worked with Telly for many years at BB&T. Even after I left the bank, Telly continued to reach out to me to see how things were going. He was such a loving and caring person. This world will not be the same without him. On August 12, 2017 as the Lord walked through the Garden of Life, no doubt he saw many beautiful flowers each with its own richness in color, each with its own fragrance. The color of one flower was richer and brighter and the fragrance of it much sweeter so; God picked our precious Telly from that Garden of Life. He could not have picked a sweeter more giving and loving person. Telly was my formal coworker and he had a character coupled with a grin that always made you smile. He was intelligent and very informed and would help anyone he could. He was loved by and will be missed by all that knew him.
My heart felt prayers and sympathy are extended to his daughter and family which he loved dearly.

I will miss seeing Telly's beautiful, warm, loving smile; however, we will see him again. I know Telly loved the Lord as we were just talking about God's plans for him in front of the BB&T Operations Center. My heart is with the family and his daughter.
