Earl Jaygold Smith

Mr. Earl Jaygold Smith, age 96 of Raeford, NC was born on October 26, 1922 to the late Rubin Smith and Rebecca Davis Smith in Duplin County.  He departed this life on Monday, April 21, 2019 at First Health Hospital Hoke Center.

He received his education with the Duplin County Public School System.  He was a hard worker and held various jobs during his 96 years.  He was a farmer, worked at Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro North Carolina. He moved to Trenton New Jersey and gained employment with Fairless Steel Company and Trenton Psychiatric Hospital.  He was last employed with General Motors (Delco) until his retirement.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories two daughters, Lois (Charles) Evans of Raeford North Carolina;  Draksie Fields of Montgomery Alabama; 10 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren, one Great Great Grandchild, two sister in laws Helen Smith of Dudley, North Carolina; Louise Gray of Goldsboro North Carolina; special family friends who were like children to him,  Homer (Tyrone Bush), Ivan and Sandra (Genise) Baptiste all of New Jersey; a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
