Mr. Robert Lewis Graham was born to the late Bishop Robert Lee Graham and Elder Mary Smith Graham on March 20, 1938. He was called into his eternal rest in the wee hours on the morning of May 30, 2018 in the comfort of his home.
He attended the Hoke County Public Schools, after which he was employed briefly with the Pipeline Company. There after, he was employed for many years by the Sanatorium at McCain. Finally after thirty-four years of steadfast service, he retired from the Raeford Burlington Plant. He was baptized in the name of Jesus and received the gift of the holy ghost and faithfully served as Sunday School Superintendent and the Deacon’s Ministry.
He met and married Jessie Jones, the love of his life, who preceded him in death. To this union, five children were born. Also preceded him in death, a son, Marvin Lewis Graham; his parents, Robert and Mary Graham; two brothers, Arthur Graham and Willie Graham.
He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Kenneth Graham (Debra); three daughters, Janet Brown (Willie), Karen Purcell and Cassandra Sturdivant (Leon); he was a father figure to Chequitha Carpenter (Acedvo); sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild; two God children, Allen Eugene Graham and Sarah Darlene Carson; a son-in-law, Bernard Purcell; four sisters, Annie Griffin, Josephine Flowers, Alma Graham and Mary Allen (Ralph); one brother, James Graham (Jackie); sisters-in-law, Bernice Wilson (Fredrick), Barbara Graham, Lillian Graham and Loretta Graham; one brother-in-line, Ernest Little; one uncle, Edward Smith (Frankie); two aunts, Sarah McKinnon and Fannie Mae Graham of Atlanta, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and his loving church family, New Pilgrim Church of God. A very special thank you to Ms. Linda Graham, Min. Shirley Wilson and Ms. Debbie Little.
