Love knows no limit to its endurance, no end to its trust, no fading of its hope, it can outlast anything. Love still stands when all else has fallen. Love describes the life of Sister Alice Elizabeth Adams Peterkin, born September 18, 1943 to the late Elder Thomas D. and Evangelist Jessie H. Adams in Raeford, NC. She departed this earth to live with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 6, 2018. She was the fourth of thirteen children. She preceded in death her daughter, Minister Andrea E. Peterkin; brother, Otha, and sister, Doris Adams.
She attended Upchurch High School and graduated with the class of 1963. She moved to New York to work as a Wig Assembler and this inspired her to open J & A Wig Shop upon returning to Raeford, NC in 1973. While operating her own business she also became a Manager of a Family Dollar Store in Raeford, NC.
She ended her professional career and retired as a Supervisor with Faberge Inc. After retirement, she joined her husband’s business, Pete’s Construction, Inc. as the Office Manager.
She joined Rockfish Grove FWB Church under the leadership of Bishop Robert L. Douglas and present Pastor Elder James Leach. She was life-long member and attended prayer meeting and bible study faithfully. She served as a Sunday School Teacher for 33 years, secretary of the Pastor’s aide, President of the Home Mission, President of the junior ushers and assisted with the Tiny Tots Choir. She served as Secretary of the Mission in the Cape Fear Conference “B” and President of the Youth in the Southern Pines District Union. She served with passion and commitment with cabinet. She was a sincere Christian worker and a friend to everyone. She will long be remembered for the loving kindness and Christian fellowship that she spread over the years as she served.
