Mr. Monroe, affectionately known as "Buddy" was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Myrtle; son, Willie Kelly Jr. and sisters, Maebelle Monroe Tyson, Margaret Monroe McPhaul and Blanche Lee Sanders; brothers, Henry Monroe, Roscoe Monroe, Joe Lee Monroe and James Monroe.

Buddy is survived by his daughter, Darlene Gates (James); sister, Mollie Monroe; brother, James Sanders (Elizabeth); daughter-in-law, Sharon Hart Kelly; grandchildren, Shalexicia Kelly, Shasmine Kelly and Jamesha Gates; great grandchildren, Forrest Allen, Madison Allen and Natalie Allen; sisters-in-law, Camilla Monroe, Deloris Monroe, Myrtle Chavis and Donnella Quick; God-children, Selina Harris, Nikki Cunningham-Quick, Theresa Wright, Deborah Turner, Christopher Bratcher and Steve Tillman; extended family, Kim Pratt, Betty Quick, Evelyn Allen, Queen Quick, Ruby Quick and Ruth Quick; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
