On June 10, 1982, In Fayetteville, NC, John blessed his parents - Virginia Loretta Moore Hill and the late Sargent
David Hargrove Hill [Ret.] by entering the world as the second of their three sons. He went home to be his
Heavenly Father on Mother’s Day - May 9, 2021.
At an early age John gave his life to God and joined Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North
Carolina. During his childhood he served in various capacities to include the usher board, children’s church
volunteer, Sunday School attendee and Kids of the Kingdom Choir. As an adult he later joined Elevation Church in
Morrisville.NC.
John attended Brentwood Elementary School, Lewis Chapel Middle School and Seventy-First High School of
Fayetteville, North Carolina. His love of learning led him to higher education at the University of North Carolina,
Chapel Hill.
John’s love of being active in sports led him to the martial arts, football, basketball, and wrestling. He was a proud
member of the Seventy-First High School 4A Dual & Tournament State Wrestling Champions 1998-99 under the
leadership of Coach David Culbreath. He also became the State Wrestling Champion in his individual weight class.
While in school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, John met the love of his life Lindsay N.
Williamson, his bride who he later married. A daughter - Lauren Chapel Hill is the product of their union.
Throughout his life, John worked in various capacities including managing a Cellular Sales Store in Morrisville and
becoming an Independent Business Owner with Amway. The Discipline and perseverance learned during his many
years of sports training enhanced John’s successes in business and in life. As John excelled in his business, he often
used the opportunities it provided to share his faith and belief in Christ with those who crossed his path thereby
impacting the lives of those he met for the greater good.
John was preceded in death by his father David H. Hill, grandparents Marian Hines Moore and John L. Moore - -
Elizabeth Gerald Hill Callum and Robert Hill. Also, his great-grandparents Olen and Nannie Gerald—
Rev. John J. and Mattie Virginia Hines and his God-father William “Bill” Moore.
He leaves his legacy and memories in his wife Lindsay N. Hill, and daughter, Lauren Chapel Hill of Durham, NC,
Mother, Virginia Loretta Hill, Fayetteville, NC, brothers David and Brian Hill, Cary, NC, Rodney Hill, New York, NY
and Rev. Kevin Langley (Angela), Durham, NC, Sisters- Erica Hill, Raleigh, NC, and Beverly Gibson (Kimball)
Fayetteville, NC, - aunts Mildred Moore Fuller, Hope Mills, NC, and Betty Hines Green, Uncle Larry Hill, and God-
Mother Pamela Ross, Fayetteville, NC, and Mother-in-Law Carol Crosby, Cary, NC. He was loved and will be
missed by more than can be numbered or named.
